In line with the nation’s Earth Day activities, the candidates of the Miss Earth Philippines pageant showcased their creative side at the Environmental Fair held at SM Mall of Asia, April 21, 2012 as a collaborative project of SM Food Group and the Miss Earth Foundation, Philippines. The exhibit of collage artwork of each candidate which features visuals expressing their personal green act was publicly viewed as each candidate explains to visitors their pro- environment ideas behind their art pieces. Among the collection, Lara Theresa Leones’ (Miss Cainta) proved to be the most outstanding interpretation, while Cristlet Gerona (Miss Pagadian) and Janica Burasca (Miss Cebu) were voted for second place and third place respectively.

The Miss Philippines Earth 2012 beauties once more proved their competiveness by outdoing each other by the SM Supermarket Dasmarinas Cavite with their singing and dancing talents on April 28, 2012 . The ladies were divided into their 8 color groups to do their own creative rendition of the official Miss Philippines Earth song, “Woman of the Earth.” Declared winners of The Singing and Dancing Challenge were the Yellow Team composed of; Peincess Manzon (San Francisco, Cebu), Margaret may Llavor (San Fernando), Glenna Christina Duch (Negros Occidental), Christina Jana Siratranont (Bantay,Ilocos Sur), Jade Charmaine Manago (Misamis Occidental) and Kathleen Subijano (Muntinlupa), with second placer Orange Team members; (Nabua), Jem Francelle Sanilo (Catarman), Jennifer Grace Alberto (Floridablanca), Candice Ramos (Vigan), Kristina Cassandra Buac (Zamboanga), and tied up at third place were Violet and Blue Team; Cristlet Gerona (Pagadian), Roxanne Corluy (Belguim Filipino Community), Quennie Uy (Batangas), Roanne Marie Noche (Mun. of Calaca), and Alvey Faith Pel-ey (Iriga), Dianne Dreyfus (Bacolod), Stephany Dianne Stefanowitz (Quezon City), Melanie Belina (Calapan), Dorothy Joy Pagurayan (Cabugao), Zandra Flores (Manaoag).

The Miss Philippines Earth 2012 candidates proved their culinary and budgeting skills at the Cooking Challenge held at SM Fairview April 24, 2012 hosted by MPE 2011 reigning queens, Athena Imperial and Denisse Torribio. The emerging grand winner of 8 groups is Group 7 composed of (candidates in blue center L-R) Reveleen Carandang (Kawit Cavite), Janica Burasca (Cebu), Abbygale Rey (Makati City), Lara Leones (Cainta), Alvy Faith Pel-ey (Ifugao Province) and Mary Joyce Cruz from the (Municipality of Rodriguez) awarded by Bounty Fresh judges (L-R), Billybert Sy (Marketing), Rachelle Payumo (Marketing), Kath Gomez (Asst. As part of their green act the Miss Philippines Earth 2012 candidates paid a visit to the Nayon ng Kabataan home for orphaned and abused children at Mandaluyong on April 24, 2012 for a tree planting activity together with Head Social Worker, Mrs. Asuncion Flores. The candidates and reigning MPE 2011, Athena Imperial and Muriel Orais distributed goods and delighted the children with storytelling activities to increase their awareness on the value of geothermal energy.

In celebration of Earth Day, April 22, Miss Earth Fondation Inc. joined Makati City in leading the environmental activities starting with the “Tigil Buga” parade also joined by the USAID-CEnergy, Environment of Natural Resources (DENR), Earth Day Network Philippines Inc. (EDNPI), Ayala Land Inc, Ayala Land Foundation and other participating stakeholders of the government and private sector. The Miss Philippines Earth 2012 candidates fronted the march of 3 groups headed toward the streets around the Ayala Triangle where they encourage motorists to turn off their engines for one minute to promote a healthy and sustainable environment.

Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary, Jose Rene D. Almendras welcomed the Miss Philippines Earth (MPE) 2012 candidates during their courtesy call at the DOE office yesterday morning, April 23, 2012. In keeping with their pre-pageant environmental activities to promote the international year of sustainable energy, reigning Miss Philippines Earth 2012 queen, Athena Imperial represented the pageant in expressing MPE’s support for DOE projects which are directed towards renewable energy.

The Miss Philippines 2012 beauties strutted on the catwalk of SM Megamall, April 23, 2012 and proved that they can be environmental smart and fashion smart at the same time. Each candidate outdid one another with a summer outfit of their choice for the Styling Challenge and flaunted SM Accessories and PARISIAN Shoes and Bags on black dresses draped on them for the Catwalk Challenge. Awardees of the Styling Challenge (above) are: third placer Miss Bacolod City, Dianne Dreyfus; first placer, Stephany Stefanowitz from Queson City and second placer, Thoreen Halvorsen of Puerto Princesa. Every 5th of June, we celebrate World Environment Day. Countries all over the world are mobilized for environmental action. Indeed, a collective effort such as this is worth celebrating. Here in the Philippines, we look forward to this event and more...

Tonight is the culmination of the surprising, not to mention shocking twist that shook pageant history.

This year, the Miss Philippines-Earth hopefuls faced weekly eliminations, which kept them, as well as pageant followers, on their toes, in eager anticipation of who among the ladies will survive and land a spot in the 'tough' 10.

During the media presentation of the 50 candidates last April 26, it was announced that, in celebration of the International Year of the Forests, forest conservation and preservation is the theme of this year's pageant. Following this, the ladies took on the role of Amazon guardians to help conserve and preserve the country's deteriorating forests. Interestingly enough, when the twist was revealed, the official delegates of cities and municipalities had to be strong and tough like Amazons if they wanted to stay in the battlefield of beauty and environmental know-how.

After four heart thumping elimination rounds, the candidates who emerged victorious and hailed as the Philippines' 10 Most Beautiful Women were Athena Imperial representing the Municipality of Casiguran, Aurora. 24-year old Athena works as a Program Researcher and hopes to become a news reporter someday.

Representing the Queen City of the South, Cebu City, is Muriel Orais, a 19-year old Nursing student.

Edan Dafilmoto is from Cotabato City. She is 22 years old and graduated with a bachelor's degree Nursing. She is a Registered Nurse and is currently a Medical student.

From the Filipino community of USA-East Coast is Brenna Gamboa. She's 21 years old and a nursing student at Olivarez College-Tagaytay.

Catrine Ocampo represents General Santos City. She's 18 years old and is a Travel Management student at the University of Santo Tomas.

Another contender for the crown is Michelle Gavagan of Las Piñas City. Born to an Irish-American father and Filipino mother, Michelle is 21 years old and currently a Mass Communications student at Southville International School.

Representing Makati City is Tarhata Rico. At 22 years of age, Tarhata is a Tourism graduate from UP Diliman.

Lakambini ng Bulacan 2010 Mary Denisse Toribio is from the Municipality of Malolos, Bulacan. She's 18 years old taking up Nursing at the University of Santo Tomas. Denisse is a college basketball player.

Maria Alicia Ariosa of Pagadian City won the Miss Pagadian City title back in 2005. Now at 23, she's ready to take a bigger and bolder step in the pageant scene. She's a Nursing graduate from San Beda College and is now a Registered Nurse.

Rounding up the Top 10 is Jonavi Quiray of Puerto Princesa City. She used to be a cartoonist of their school paper and her love for the visual arts led to her taking Architecture in college. Jonavi is 24 years old.

The ten finalists will vie for the much-coveted Miss Philippines-Earth crown and the right to represent the country in the Miss Earth Pageant to be held in Thailand in November.

Miss Earth Foundation Executive Director Cathy Untalan announced the names of the final 10 candidates during the Talent and Cultural Costume competitions at Thunderbird Resorts in Binangonan, Rizal, much to the delight of the audience who witnessed the climax of the unexpected twist that shook pageant history.

Beauty from the inside was also recognized as Miss Friendship was awarded to Norella Nacis of the Municipality of Sto.Tomas, La Union.

The grand coronation night will be aired live on ABS-CBN at 10 PM and on a later date on The Filipino Channel.

The Miss Philippines Earth 2011 Best in Cocktail Wear special award winner was Miss Puerto Princesa City Jonavi Raisa Quiray. The Cocktail Wear Competition and 3rd Elimination was held last May 16 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in RCBC. The ten eliminated candidates were: Vivienne Gulla of the Mun.of Baliwag-Bulacan, Alyssa Canizares of Bayugan City, Christianne Ramos of the Mun.of Cainta-Rizal, Aileene Dango of the Mun.of Loboc-Bohol, Jaine Hidalgo of the Mun.of Milaor-Camarines Sur, Zhaniethia Villanueva of Paranaque City, Diana Jainga of Passi City, Leslie Ching of the Mun.of San Isidro-Nueva Ecija, Diana Santos of Vigan City and Anna Brillante of the Mun.of Virac-Catanduanes.

The Casual Wear Competition and 2nd Elimination was held last May 12 at the Opus Restaurant Resorts World Manila. Emotions ran high inside the Alfonso Umali Sr. Gymnasium in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro during the recent Miss Philippines-Earth 2011 Long Gown Competition. Aside from recognizing the candidate who looked radiant in her evening gown, the event also marked the first of a series of eliminations that will determine the final 10 candidates who will compete for the coveted title. Wearing elegant numbers created by some of the country's top fashion designers, the candidates sashayed down the catwalk before a distinguished panel of judges and much to the delight of Calapeños. Adjudged Best in Long Gown was Brenna Cassandra Gamboa representing the Filipino Community of US-East Coast, who looked regal in her black long gown designed by Sidney Eculla. Hot on Brenna's heels was Cebu City's Muriel Adrienne Orais, who placed 1st runner-up in an exquisite gown design by Furne One-Amato Couture. Jaine Hidalgo from the Municipality of Milaor placed 2nd runner-up in an eye-catching white number designed by John Herrera. The Miss Friendship Award was also handed out that night, and this year's friendliest, as voted by the candidates themselves, was Norella Nacis from the Municipality of Sto. Tomas, La Union.

Tension filled the evening soon after the special awards were handed out as Miss Earth executive director Cathy Untalan called out the names of the candidates who still have a shot for the Miss Philippines-Earth crown.

It was a heart-thumping moment when only 10 candidates were left standing on center stage, and much to everyone's surprise, Untalan announced that only 8, instead of 10, will bid farewell to the competition.

40 candidates made it to the first cut and those whose journey to the Miss Philippines-Earth crown unfortunately came to an end were Marde Rose Enriquez of Calamba City, Cari-DawnCampbell of Fil.Central USA, Honey Claire Arranguez of Davao City, CristaJuanico of the Municipality of Libungan-North Cotabato, Czshevinah Alejandro ofLipa City, Princess Jennifer Iñosa of San Pedro City and Caraleigh Ico of theMunicipality of Sapian-Capiz.

Miss Philippines-Earth 2011 added extra spice in the look of the candidates as they wore variously printed animal-inspired swimwear in the recently held Swimsuit Competition at Golden Sunset in Calatagan, Batangas. The audiences were treated to a sizzling show as 50 lovely ladies strutted in style showcasing confidence in their own skin. Bagging the Best in Swimsuit Award is Jonavi Raisa Quiray representing Puerto Princesa City. In 2010, Jonavi put the Philippines in the international map of beauty when she was hailed as the Queen of the first ever Miss ASEAN TV Charm winner in Vietnam, besting candidates from other Southeast Asian nations. She was also Mutya ng Pilipinas International 2008 titleholder. Meanwhile, two special awards were also presented that evening by Ricky Reyes, owner of Ricky Reyes chain of salon and Golden Sunset Resort and Spa. Michelle Gavagan of Las Pinas City was the recipient of Miss Golden Sunset and Cebu's pride Muriel Orais was awarded with Gandang Ricky Reyes Award.

Meanwhile, two special awards were also presented that evening by Ricky Reyes, owner of Ricky Reyes chain of salon and Golden Sunset Resort and Spa. Michelle Gavagan of Las Pinas City was the recipient of Miss Golden Sunset and Cebu's pride Muriel Orais was awarded with Gandang Ricky Reyes Award.

Stay tuned as ten ladies end their journey in getting the much coveted crown in the first elimination round of Miss Philippines-Earth 2011 on May 6 in the Long Gown Competition to be held at Calapan, Mindoro.

Now on its 11th year, Miss Philipppines-Earth has consistently worked for public awareness on important environmental issues. This year, the pageant highlights the pressing concerns that face the country's deteriorating forests.

The Miss Philippines-Earth 2011 grand coronation night will be on Sunday, June 5 at the Puerto Princesa City Coliseum, telecast live on ABS-CBN 2 at 10:00 PM.

Carousel Productions, Inc., the producer of Miss Philippines-Earth, brings an exciting twist to this year's pageant format that will keep the candidates on their toes and pageant followers in eager anticipation as the grand coronation night draws near.

Landing a spot in the Top 10 will not be a long wait for the 50 candidates as they face a series of eliminations during the pageant's special events. The first elimination is slated on Friday, May 6 during the Long Gown Competition in Calapan, Mindoro. 10 candidates will say their thank you's and goodbye's, while the remaining 40 will move on the next round of elimination.

The advocacy-driven beauty pageant indeed gets tougher this year. As the candidates take on the role of Amazon guardians in line with the celebration of the International Year of the Forests, they will have to be fierce and feisty like Amazons if they want to stay in the game.

The final cut will be announced at least a week before the coronation night to give Miss Philippines-Earth followers more time to get to know the finalists better. Now on its 11th year, Miss Philipppines-Earth has consistently worked for public awareness on important environmental issues. This year, the pageant highlights the pressing concerns that face the country's deteriorating forests.

The Miss Philippines-Earth 2011 grand coronation night will be on Sunday, June 5 at the Puerto Princesa City Coliseum, telecast live on ABS-CBN 2 at 10:00 PM.

The Forbes Park Earth Run, to be held this sunday, May 8 2011, is organized by Rotary of Forbes Park in cooperation with the Miss Earth Foundation, showcasing the ecological balance of Forbes Park Village. All run proceeds go to charity.

Having successfully addressed the issues and concerns about water conservation last year, Miss Philippines-Earth gears up this year to undertake yet another pressing matter in our country. In line with the International Year of the Forests, this year's candidates will take on the role of Amazon guardians on a quest to preserve and conserve our deteriorating forests. Today, more than 50 beautiful advocates of Mother Earth from various parts of the Philippines and the Filipino communities abroad will be presented to all media partners. Armed with their advocacies and enthusiasm to shift people's minds towards the Green Revolution, these ladies will soon realize the true meaning of Going Green.

This year, Miss Philippines-Earth has partnered with one of the greenest cities in the Philippines , Puerto Princesa, and will work hand-in-hand to address the dire need for reforestation and to bring attention to the increasing numbers of species in the extinction list. They will also work together with the Miss Earth Foundation who in turn has been collaborating with many environmental organizations to restore Philippine forests by planting back native trees.

According to Carousel President, Ramon Monzon, "What these girls do is really admirable. They are serious in their tree-planting activities, active in coastal clean-ups, eager to open the eyes of children to environmental issues, while at the same time, they continuously maintain the poise and stature of a beauty queen."

As any queen who has come and gone through the halls of Carousel Productions can attest to, work and passion go hand in hand with beauty and glamour that bind both title and crown. Miss Philippines-Earth has proudly produced some of the country's most beautiful advocates who have collaborated and partaken in many greening campaigns. Miss Philippines-Earth candidates are known for getting their hands dirty for the environment, from tree planting to coastal clean-ups, from school tours to street rallying for cleaner air, and have established their mark with supporters from the pageant industry. The Miss Earth Foundation, under the leadership of its Executive Director Ms. Catherine Untalan, has guided and led each batch to live and breathe the essence of true beauties for a cause by creating and implementing legacies that tackle environmental issues each year.

Coronation Night will be on June 5, 2011, Sunday, 7:00 p.m. at the Coliseum in Puerto Princesa, and will be telecast on ABS-CBN Channel 2 at 10:30 p.m. and on a later date on The Filipino Channel.

In the recently held 13th Tour of the Fireflies, the Miss Philippines-Earth 2011 candidates, together with 2010 Miss Philippines-Earth reigning queens Kris Psyche Resus, Rene McHugh, and Angela Fernando geared up to participate in the much anticipated Bicycle Revolution. For more than a decade, the Tour of the Fireflies has been an annual gathering of thousands of individuals who share the same goal of promoting the use of bicycle for Clean Air and sustainable communities. This year's route was a full circle from Tiendesitas to CCP Complex. Indeed, this was yet another successful Tour of the Fireflies!

Before the participants hit the road, uniformed and costumed bikers alike were treated to a mini fashion show by the Miss Philippines-Earth 2011 candidates who modeled with a bicycle donning their chiclista attire.

At exactly 7:00am, the already excited bikers started conquering the road nonchalant of the blazing heat. After a few minutes upon arrival at the CCP Complex, the game was on again as they made a return to Tiendesitas.

Last April 17, mall goers at SM Valenzuela had a fun-filled afternoon with the gathering of adorable and smart Lil Earth Angels 2011 contestants who conquered the stage donning their safari-accented casual attire in an engaging opening number. Together with the Miss Philippines-Earth 2011 candidates, the little angels strutted in style as they voiced out their environmental advocacies leaving the audience in awe of their environmental awareness.

After the energetic opening number, the kids showcased their talents that were truly enjoyed by the already hyped up members of the audience.
The Lil Earth Angels contestants displayed their wit and charm in the question and portion as they conveyed an honest view of the recurring environmental impact of human activities.

The 2011 Lil Earth Angels is a project of the Miss Philippines-Earth 2010 reigning queens namely Miss Philippines-Earth 2010 Kris Psyche Resus, Miss Philippines-Eco Tourism 2010 Angela Fernando, , Miss Philippines-Air 2010 Rene McHugh, Miss Philippines-Water 2010 Emerie Cunanan and Miss Philippines-Fire Hannah Landan. This competition is now on its 5th year that aims to create awareness and initiate action from 6-10 year old girls to help save the environment in their own little ways.

After ten preliminary judging at various SM Malls, ten victorious finalists will compete for the Lil Earth Angels 2011 title. The hailed angel will be the counterpart of the crowned Miss Philippines-Earth 2011 in spreading the message of Mother Earth.
